1950s Summer Dress

Using thrifted fabric, I designed this dress inspired by Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. This was a practice in thrifting and thriftiness — as only the thread was purchased new, and nearly every scrap of fabric was used (even the Rickrack was from my grandmother's stash, purchased in the. 1970s!). Pockets are hidden on both sides within the skirt pleating. This dress was made to my own measurements and was drafted from a vintage basic block.

This dress is the epitome of what I like to design; clean lines, vintage style style and drafting, and minimal trim to showcase the quality of my work. It remains my favorite garment I have ever made for myself.
