The characters' outfits are meant to be a direct copy of the painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seraut.
Dot: The skirt is flatlined in a thick lining fabric, the bodice is flatlined in thin cotton. Horsehair braid was added to the bodice peplum to add volume. The draped overskirt was secured down. The whole skirt/overskirt had to be able to swing around to the front onstage to create a "pregnancy".
